HYDRAA Undertook Encroachment-Removal Drives in Gachibowli and Shamirpet

HYDRAA removed the fresh encroachments, installed boards marking the land as a park and put up fencing to prevent future illegal occupation.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) said on Thursday that it had removed encroachments and protected a public park in Gachibowli and restored a blocked road in Shamirpet.

In Gachibowli’s Telecomnagar, a layout was developed in 1982 for BSNL employees with permission from the then Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (Huda). With the layout's total area spanning 32 acres, 4,000 square yards were officially reserved for a park. Over the years, around 1,500 square yards of this park land were encroached upon and houses built.

Recently, attempts were made to encroach upon the remaining 2,500 square yards by claiming that the land was divided into plots. Telecomnagar residents complained to HYDRAA, following the agency officials, along with those of revenue and GHMC, conducted a field inspection and confirmed that the land was meant for a park.

HYDRAA removed the fresh encroachments, installed boards marking the land as a park and put up fencing to prevent future illegal occupation.

In another operation, HYDRAA said it had removed road encroachments in Friends Colony, Shamirpet, in Medchal-Malkajgiri district. A 20-foot-wide road in a 1987-approved layout had been blocked by walls and a gate, cutting off access to nearby plots and the Shamirpet police station road.

After receiving complaints, HYDRAA verified the issue on the ground and cleared the encroachments. Local residents expressed relief, saying they finally got access after waiting for over 15 years.
