HYDRAA Seals 6 Furniture Shops For Flouting Fire Safety Norms
The outlets also lacked fire NOCs, while cellar ramps had been removed and filled with goods

HYDERABAD: HYDRAA has sealed six furniture outlets across the city for failing to obtain fire no‑objection certificates (NOCs) and for violating fire safety norms.
A week after the Nampally blaze that claimed five lives, officials found that these stores had illegally stored large quantities of paint boxes, mattresses and batteries in their cellars. The outlets also lacked fire NOCs, while cellar ramps had been removed and filled with goods.
Inspections led to the closure of a Looking Good Furniture store in Gachibowli, two Anu Furniture showrooms in Kompally and Nacharam, two Royal Oak outlets in Kukatpally and Attapur, and another furniture store. Boards were placed outside, warning that the shops and their surroundings did not comply with fire safety standards.
On Thursday, officials extended their checks to other businesses. A Neeru’s store in Jubilee Hills and a Standard Furniture outlet in Nampally were seized for operating without fire NOCs and for storing highly flammable material in a hazardous manner.
