HYDRAA Seals 2 Shops for Violations
Officials warned that shops running as godowns and unsafe commercial buildings will face strict action, with no exceptions.
Hyderabad: HYDRAA on Thursday closed a Neerus’ clothing store located on Jubilee Hills Road No. 36, and Standard Furniture store building in Nampally for not having fire no-objection certificates (NOC) and violating fire safety norms by packing their premises with inflammable material.
The Neerus’ showroom building had three basements, four floors and an unauthorised rooftop shed, all packed with large quantities of garments and clothing material. While sales were being carried out on two floors, the remaining levels were being used as garment production units and godowns.
Apart from not having a fire NOC, fire extinguishers were either not in working condition or were missing entirely, and fire safety norms were ignored at every level at the Neerus premises. Calling the premises “fire unsafe”, HYDRAA ordered its immediate seizure. Authorities also disconnected the power supply to the store and erected warning boards outside the store.
HYDRAA also sealed the six-storey Standard Furniture showroom on Nampally Station Road. Despite the tragedy along the same road, which killed five people last week, several other shops continued unsafe business practices.
At the Standard Furniture outlet, officials found heavy furniture stored from the cellar to the sixth floor, completely blocking staircases and exit routes. The building also had no fire NOC, and not a single fire extinguisher was found across all floors. HYDRAA ordered an immediate shutdown and electricity supply was cut.
Officials warned that shops running as godowns and unsafe commercial buildings will face strict action, with no exceptions.
HYDRAA commissioner A. V. Ranganath urged citizens to report fire safety violations to the HYDRAA control room at 9000113667 or directly to 7207923085, along with photos or videos. Complaints can also be posted on X (Twitter) under @Commissioner_HYDRAA tag
