HYDRAA Removed Encroachments from Musi, Reclaims Parkland in Moosapet

The drive targeted unauthorized sheds and constructions that were allegedly being used for shady businesses, including illegal rentals for parking and commercial trade.

Hyderabad: Removing obstructions and encroachments from Musi, HYDRAA conducted a demolition drive from Chaderghat to Osmania Hospital’s mortuary on Tuesday. Clearing sheds, parking spots and businesses which were encroaching on the river, the Agency has reclaimed nearly 10 acres of land from encroachers’ hands.

HYDRAA stated that they razed structures and reclaimed 5.22 acres from an encroacher named Jayakrishna, 3.1 acres from a person named Tikaram Singh, and 1.3 acres from one Poonam Chand Yadav.

After receiving complaints from locals about the river being encroached, authorities inspected the river. Officials said that the encroachers filled up the riverbed with silt and soil, and began running businesses like bus and truck parking, mechanic sheds and plant nursery businesses.

Along with Musi river encroachment removal, HYDRAA also removed encroachments from a 2000-sq. yard parkland in Moosapet’s Anjaneyanagar.

Officials said that a man named Yasin encroached the land, designated for a park under HUDA layout, and began running a tent, sound system and generator repair businesses in the land.

Although GHMC released Rs 50 lakh to develop the park and raise a compound wall around the park, Yasin and his henchmen stopped the works and did not let the development work take place in the park.

HYDRAA officials inspected the site and conducted a thorough research on the issue, and after confirming that the land is in fact a parkland, removed the sheds and encroachments from the land.
