HYDRAA Launches Fire Safety Drive Across City

Following the recent Nampally fire accident that claimed five lives, including two children, HYDRAA inspected and seized nine business premises across the city for lacking fire NOCs and violating safety norms.

Hyderabad:HYDRAA has launched large-scale fire safety awareness programmes across the city to prevent accidents and improve public safety.

Officials explained the importance of installing and maintaining fire extinguishers, automatic water sprinklers and smoke detectors. Demonstrations were given on how to use extinguishers and act quickly during emergencies to reduce loss of life and property. Workers and business owners were also trained in safe evacuation methods, while fire mock drills were conducted at select locations to showcase real-time response.

Awareness programmes were held in Panjagutta, Narsingi, Mettuguda, Karwan, Chandanagar, RTC crossroads, Uppal, Begumpet, Jubilee Hills, Madhapur, Sanathnagar, Gachibowli, Miyapur, Dilsukhnagar, Alwal, Attapur, Banjara Hills, ECIL, Kompally, Nampally and Shamshabad.

Officials later announced a temporary pause on closures, focusing instead on awareness. After a one-month pause, however, inspections will intensify and closure orders will be imposed on non-compliant businesses.

Authorities advised shop owners to clearly mark fire exit routes and keep them unobstructed. Citizens were urged to call the Fire Department on 101, HYDRAA control room on 1070, or 9000113667 in case of emergencies.
