HYDRAA Flags Major Violations at Dr Shankar’s Hospital in RTC Crossroads

Commissioner A.V. Ranganath inspects hospital after a public complaint, highlights safety concerns and illegal construction extensions

Hyderabad: HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath raised serious concerns over multiple construction violations at Dr Shankar’s Hospital near the RTC crossroads. He visited the site on Friday after receiving a public complaint through the Prajavani platform. “How can there be so many violations in one building? And that too in a hospital where safety should be a top priority,” he said during the inspection.

Ranganath found that the hospital had illegally extended its construction beyond the approved limit. While permission was given for four floors, the building had six floors and a cellar. He also noted that the hospital had encroached onto the road, which is only 10 feet wide on one side and 15 feet on the other.

The commissioner questioned hospital owner Dr Shankar and demanded to see relevant permissions. He also asked how licence was granted to the hospital without an occupancy certificate and warned about the risk of accidents in the narrow residential area. Ranganath instructed officials to verify all building permissions and take necessary action. GHMC Secunderabad zonal chief planner Srinivas was directed to submit a detailed report.

HYDRAA fire department additional director Papayya, DFO Yagna Narayana, and other HYDRAA officials were present during the inspection.
