HYDRAA Commissioner Ranganath Inspects Gachibowli Desilting Works
HYDRAA Commissioner A.V. Ranganath inspected desilting works in Gachibowli and directed officials to expedite drain restoration to prevent flooding.
HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath inspected the progress of desilting and restoration works being carried out in stormwater drains leading to Khajaguda lake near the Gachibowli junction, and reviewed the condition of the roads in front of a mall, where rainwater had accumulated earlier this monsoon.
He noted that one vent of a box drain carrying water to Khajaguda lake was blocked with silt. He directed officials to speed up desilting works and also inspected the connecting stormwater drains above the box drain.
Officials informed him that the precautionary measures taken previously had prevented waterlogging during the recent rain, and said that once the silt is fully removed from the two vents of the box drains crossing the Old Mumbai Highway, the risk of flooding in the area would be reduced.
Ranganath also inspected the underpass opposite a mall at Kondapur junction, after rainwater recently collected there. Officials said two automatic water pumps had failed, leading to the waterlogging. Ranganath instructed them to repair the pumps immediately. He also directed HYDRAA’s DRF and MET staff to keep 25 horsepower pumps ready at the location to quickly remove rainwater if needed.
