Hyderabadi Accuses Saudi Employer of Detaining Him, Seeks Help To Return

Employer withheld passport, blocked exit after 3 years

Hyderabad: A Hyderabad-based man in Saudi Arabia requested Indian authorities to help him retrieve his passport from his employers and help him return to India. Altaf Hussain, a resident of Kalapathar, said that his employer took his passport and that he was in dire need of help.

In a video, Altaf said that he went to Saudi Arabia more than three years ago, and has been working with a company there. He said that the employer took away his passport, and his Iqama, the residence permit and legal ID for expatriates living and working in Saudi Arabia, has expired and is unable to make bank transactions.

He said that his employer previously promised to send him back home after working for two years, but they never allowed to do that. He stated that his father is ill, and he needs to return home to care for him.

Responding to the request on social media, the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia said that they will get in touch with Altaf and will extend possible assistance to him.
