Hyderabad Youths Prove Friendship Is Blind Too, Land In Jail For Impersonation

The techie fled leaving the vehicle at the spot in Jubilee Hills fearing that the police would arrest him

Hyderabad: A friend in need is a friend indeed, an adage says, but two friends landed in trouble as the Jubilee Hills police arrested them on Monday for indulging in impersonation in connection with a road accident case.

The arrested have been identified as Sirish, a software engineer and a resident of DD Colony Amberpet and his close friend Sailesh, a resident of Panjagutta. The duo studied in the same college, according to police.

Jubilee Hill Inspector K. Venkateshwar Reddy said Sirish was on his way to his residence after attending a party in his SUV from Kokapet early Sunday under the influence of alcohol.

While negotiating a curve on Road Number 45 in Jubilee Hills, Sirish lost control and rammed into a central median. As air balloons in the vehicle opened after hitting the median, Sirish escaped unhurt. He fled leaving the vehicle at the spot fearing that the police would arrest him.

With the help of SUV registration details on the number plate, the police identified that the vehicle was registered in the name of Krishna Sastri. Based on vehicle registration details, the police were trying to trace the owner when Sailesh came to the police station on Monday stating that he had committed the accident.

The police verified the footage of CCTVs on Road Number 45 in Jubilee Hills and its surroundings and found that Sailesh was not driving the SUV. After grilling Sailesh, the police found it was Sirish, who was driving the vehicle.

The police registered a case against Sirish and Sailesh, both in their early 30’s and arrested them. Out of friendship only, Sailesh agreed to help Sirish, the police said.
