Hyderabad: Woman Techie Dies by Suicide, 6-Month-Old Baby Survives Miraculously

Hyderabad: A woman techie died by suicide at an apartment here on Friday evening. During the attempt, she was carrying her six-month-old baby who survived miraculously. The victim, Esha Sahu, is survived by her husband and two daughters.

Police said Sahu, 37, hailed from Madhya Pradesh. Her husband, who is also from the same state, works in the software industry as well. Police said she had sent her husband to a shop before taking the extreme step.

The baby was admitted to a hospital after recovery, and her condition was out of danger, police said on Saturday. The watchman of a nearby apartment, who heard the baby crying, stepped in and rescued her.

Police said the couple had been married for 13 years. The victim was said to be suffering from depression since the birth of her daughter six months ago, he said. Police registered a case and have launched an investigation.

Speeding car injures three in Kukatpally

Three members of a family sustained injuries after a speeding car rammed into their vehicle near Lakeshore Mall in Kukatpally police station limits in the wee hours of Saturday.

According to the complainant, Chittigoni Srikanth, he was returning to Hyderabad with family and relatives after visiting a temple in the Tungabhadra region. Around 3 am, when their Polo car reached Lakeshore Mall, another car allegedly driven rashly at high speed crashed into it from behind.

Police identified the accused driver as Mohammed Abdul, 22, who was driving a car bearing registration number AP 28 AY 3222. The impact left several family members injured. They were shifted to a hospital in Sanathnagar by a 108 ambulance and given treatment.

Investigations revealed the accused vehicle had a history of traffic violations, including two overspeeding challans in Mudimyal under the dangerous driving category and one challan for stopping on a carriageway near Keesara in 2024 and 2025. The fines reportedly amounted to ₹2,270. Based on the victim’s complaint, Kukatpally police registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.

Woman dies by suicide in Kushaiguda, kin suspect relative’s role

A 26‑year‑old woman died by suicide at her residence in Kushaiguda police station limits, with family members suspecting the role of a relative in abetting her death.

According to police, Dharavath Sakri lodged a complaint on Saturday morning regarding the death of her daughter, Dharavath Pravalika, 26, a homemaker and resident of Chakripuram in Kapra. Pravalika had married Parikala Mallikarjun in a love marriage in 2022, and the couple were residing in a rented house. She was reportedly undergoing treatment for gynaecological issues as the couple had been unable to conceive.

On Friday evening, around 7.30 pm, the complainant’s son Shiva received a call from Mallikarjun informing him that Pravalika had first slit her hand and later died by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. Police questioned the husband over the incident. However, family members expressed suspicion over the involvement of a relative, who works as a driver, alleging he was in an affair with Pravalika and may have abetted her suicide.

Three held in cyber fraud cases; Malkajgiri police crack job, investment scams

The Malkajgiri police commissionerate said that its cybercrime sleuths had detected three cases and arrested three persons involved in separate frauds recently. The accused acted as mule account holders, allegedly providing bank accounts to cyber fraudsters involved in financial crimes across states.
Police identified the accused as Sajjala Vasu of Rahmathnagar in a job fraud case, Mohammad Zuber of Basharathnagar in an investment scam, and Dadiya Shiva Sai alias Bittu of Jawaharnagar in a fake customer care case. All three were arrested and are now under judicial custody.
In the job fraud case, the victim allegedly received calls from fraudsters posing as representatives of a reputed recruitment agency, offering a software engineer post. The victim was persuaded to pay money towards processing charges and offer letter issuance.
In the investment fraud case, the complainant was reportedly added to a WhatsApp investment group, where fraudsters lured the victim into stock market trading through an application displaying fake profits. Believing the returns to be genuine, the victim transferred money into multiple accounts before realising the deception after failing to withdraw funds.
Similarly, in the fake customer care case, cyber fraudsters allegedly posed as financial service representatives and induced the complainant to invest large sums by showing false profits and promising interest-free repayments. Officials also processed refunds worth `50,000 through court orders and urged citizens to remain alert against online scams.

Man dies by suicide; family blames sister’s in-laws over dowry harassment

A 29-year-old man allegedly committed suicide at his workplace in Jawaharnagar police station limits after reportedly facing repeated harassment, threats and dowry-related demands made by his sister, her husband and in-laws. The deceased was identified as Naveen, 29, son of Anjaiah, a resident of Chennapuram, Jawaharnagar.
Naveen’s elder sister Mamatha had married Bommaraju Krishna from Turkayamjal, after separating from her first husband. Her family allegedly provided five tolas of gold and half a kilogram of silver as per the groom’s family’s demands.
Within a week of the marriage, Krishna, his father Sattaiah, mother Pushpa and Mamatha allegedly began harassing Naveen over the phone, demanding more dowry money and gold. The complainant, Anjaiah, alleged that the accused repeatedly threatened and mentally tortured him, allegedly telling him to die if he could not arrange the money and claiming they would take his share of family property after his death.
Police said that on June 5, Krishna and Mamatha allegedly visited and threatened Naveen and reportedly took his signatures on four blank cheques. Unable to cope with the alleged harassment, Naveen committed suicide on Saturday morning by hanging himself at the UPVC shed, where he worked. Police registered a case against Krishna, Pushpa, Mamatha and other family members and launched an investigation.

Gang held for ₹21 lakh Shaadi Mubarak fraud

Attapur police arrested a six‑member gang, including a special revenue inspector, for preparing forged documents under the Shaadi Mubarak Scheme and misappropriating nearly ₹21 lakh in government welfare funds.

Police said credible information was received on Friday that a group led by Mohammed Etemaad ul Haq was preparing fake applications from a house in Fatima Colony, Hassan Nagar, and submitting them to the Bandlaguda Tahsildar Office to illegally claim benefits.

Acting swiftly, police raided the premises after informing senior officials. Officers seized a laptop, CPU, desktop computer with monitor, six mobile phones, fake applications, identity documents and 21 released cheques amounting to nearly ₹21 lakh.

Investigation revealed that Etemaad allegedly used Paint and Adobe Photoshop to manipulate brides’ photographs, Aadhaar details, marriage certificates and supporting documents. Mohammed Akbar allegedly collected the fake applications and arranged their submission through Dharavath Ashok Kiran, a special revenue inspector at the Bandlaguda tahsildar office, who allegedly facilitated processing without mandatory field verification. Musharaf, Sarfaraz and Jaffer were involved in identifying fake beneficiaries and fabricating bank account details, electricity bills and marriage photographs while sharing the illegal proceeds.

14 more arrested In Keesara land dispute attack

Keesara police arrested 14 more accused in connection with a violent attack linked to a land dispute at Cheeryal involving Srikara Hospital owner Palle Bhadra Reddy. The total number of arrests in the case has now reached 17.

It may be recalled that Bhadra Reddy, along with Bollampalli Srinivas Reddy and Panja Sanjay Kumar, was arrested on June 7 and remanded in an alleged attempt‑to‑murder case involving an attack on a watchman and members of a family at a disputed land parcel in Survey No. 156 under Keesara police station limits.

Police said the case pertained to an incident reported in the early hours of June 6 when Sai Kumar, a watchman residing in a container house on the disputed property, was allegedly attacked after a group attempted to pour petrol on him and set him ablaze.

Following a call to the landowners, complainant Kola Balakrishna, his parents and relatives rushed to the spot, only to be allegedly assaulted with iron rods, hammers, sticks, bottles and stones. Balakrishna’s brother reportedly sustained severe injuries requiring 10 stitches, while several others were injured.

The newly arrested accused were identified as Pandeti Raja, Bukhya Ramesh, Golleru Nagaraju, Marutha Rajashekhar, Bandala Praveen, Hathwala Ajay Kumar, Donthi Naga Sandeep, Kunta Srinivas, Syed Azam, Jameel Khan, Abdul Nadeem, Dharmarapu Priyanka, Tanneru Sravanthi and Pindi Sujatha.

Police said witness statements, victims’ accounts, seized objects and technical evidence confirmed the involvement of the accused. Officials added that efforts are underway to identify more suspects.

Case registered against sarpanch for animal sacrifice

Police registered a case against the sarpanch and others in Undavelly village after a complaint alleged that a buffalo was killed and its severed head was placed before a temple during Devara celebrations.
Adulapuram Goutham, 35, a cruelty prevention manager at the Stray Animal Foundation of India, submitted a complaint alleging that the incident took place around 4.30 am on May 20 at Undavelly village. The FIR, registered at Undavelly police station in Jogulamba Gadwal district on Saturday was dispatched to the court of the Judicial Magistrate of First Class at Alampur.
