Hyderabad: Two Persons Get Financial Aid for Treatment Through Prajavani

Hyderabad: Two persons received financial support for medical treatment through the Prajavani programme held here on Tuesday. The Prajavani programme received 8,070 applications, of which 6,354 were related to the Indiramma Housing scheme.
The family of a 10-year-old, suffering from Wilson’s disease and in need of a liver transplant, approached Prajavani for help. His mother said the condition was first diagnosed as jaundice in July last year.
“We spent a lot of money at private hospitals but, as his condition worsened, doctors advised us to go to Osmania General Hospital. The OGH recommended an urgent liver transplant,” she said. To get help under the Jeevandhan scheme, the family needed a Rajiv Aarogyasri card. At Prajavani, they received the card and assistance of Rs 10.5 lakh from the government.
Similarly, 42-year-old K. Srinu from Narayanpet district needed a bone flap replacement surgery. His brother, Tirupati, narrated his plight, “My brother’s family did not have a ration card, which made it difficult to get financial support." They approached Prajavani and, with the help of health department officials, received a letter of credit under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund for Rs 5 lakh for treatment at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS).
It was not all hunky dory. Ilesh Yadav from Ibrahimpatnam said he had been visiting the Prajavani programme regularly to resolve his land issue. He said his five-acre land, which his father received through the Bhoodan scheme in 1979, was acquired for `54,000 per acre allegedly using fake documents by officials in 2010.
“The issue worsened after the Bhoodan Board was dissolved in 2014, I have been trying to reclaim land for 11 years. Officials had earlier promised land in another location, but no action was taken,” he added. He said Prajavani incharge G. Chinna Reddy had assured him of a solution, however, there has been no progress in his case.
