Hyderabad Traffic Police Felicitates Google Employee For Helping Woman On YMCA Flyover

The traffic police appreciated Google employee’s courage and sense of social duty

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad traffic police felicitated a Google employee for helping a 55-year-old woman whose car got stranded after developing a snag in the battery, amidst ongoing traffic at the ever-busy YMCA flyover in Secunderabad.

Around 8.15 pm on Friday, the woman was unable to drive her 2010-model Santro car after developing a problem in the battery in the middle of YMCA flyover. Then the Google employee Abhishek, who was travelling from Hi-tech City to DD Colony in Amberpet, displayed an exemplary act of civic responsibility.

On seeing the car, he stopped his bike, approached the stranded vehicle, and pushed the car with his hands safely off the flyover towards the North Zone Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) office side, ensuring both the safety of the elderly woman and smooth traffic flow.

In recognition of this selfless and commendable act, the North Zone Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Traffic-I, G. Shankar Raju and other officials felicitated Abhishek, appreciating his courage and sense of social duty.

Abhishek has been rightly acknowledged as a role model for the citizens of Hyderabad. This incident serves as a reminder that citizen participation is vital in ensuring road safety and public welfare. While the traffic police strive to maintain and respond to incidents, they may not always be present immediately due to the volume of traffic and incidents in twin cities, he said.

With over 2,000 new vehicles added daily and over 5,000 accident cases reported across the country, it becomes essential for citizens to step up and help one another in times of need, the ACP said. He urged all citizens to follow Abhishek’s example and contribute to building a compassionate, responsible, and safer community.

“We also take this opportunity to raise awareness about the Good Samaritan Law, under which the Central government recognizes and rewards individuals who voluntarily help accident victims or those in distress. Such individuals may be eligible for the Good Samaritan award, and their assistance is protected under the law,” he added.
