Hyderabad: The Malkajgiri Traffic Police have issued a traffic advisory in connection with the ‘International Kite and Sweet Festival’ scheduled from Tuesday till January 15 at the Parade Grounds, Secunderabad, from January 13 to 15, 2026.
Commuters have been advised to avoid roads around the venue during the three-day event to ensure smooth traffic flow.
The advisory issued by Malkajgiri police commissioner on Tuesday stated that the traffic restrictions and diversions will be imposed between 10 am and 10 pm on a need basis.
The stretch between CTO X Road, Plaza X Roads and Tivoli X Roads may be closed intermittently, depending on traffic density.
Heavy congestion is expected at several key junctions, including CTO and Plaza junctions, Tivoli and Picket junctions, Secunderabad Club (In-Gate) and NCC, Sweekar Upkar, YMCA and SBI junctions, besides Balamrai, Brookbond, Tadbund X Roads and Masthan Café areas.
Passengers travelling to Secunderabad Railway Station and Jubilee Bus Station (JBS) have been advised to start early.
The traffic police have recommended the use of Metro Rail services to avoid delays.
Parking arrangements
Parking inside the Parade Grounds will be restricted to authorised vehicles. Dedicated parking facilities have been arranged for event organisers, the general public and police personnel at multiple locations, including Gymkhana Exhibition Ground, Gymkhana Cricket Ground, Sports Authority of Telangana State premises and Dhobighat.
For commuters parking at Dhobighat, a shuttle service will be provided to Parade Grounds East Gate No. 11.
Entry points and ride-hailing services
General public entry will be allowed through West Gate–1 and East Gate No. 11. Those using ride-hailing services such as Ola, Uber and Rapido have been asked to use designated pick-up and drop-off points at Paradise Metro Station, Tivoli Junction, SBI Junction and Sweekar Upkar Junction.
The Malkajgiri Traffic Police have appealed to citizens to cooperate with personnel on duty and follow traffic diversions. Real-time updates will be updated, the release stated.
The police have urged commuters to plan their travel in advance and use alternative routes during the festival days -for emergency -Traffic Helpline- 8712662999., the release further stated.
