Hyderabad: TGMC Flags Unauthorized Medical Practice at Seven Establishments

At Shifa Clinic in Golconda, the council said allopathic medicines, including antibiotics, corticosteroids and IV fluids, were being used despite alleged lack of the required authorization.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) on Sunday conducted surprise inspections at seven clinics and hospitals in the city and flagged alleged unauthorised practice of allopathy by persons without the required qualifications or registrations.

TGMC members Dr G. Srinivas, Dr V. Naresh Kumar and Dr K.U.N. Vishnu conducted the inspections. The council said legal action would be initiated against those found violating the applicable laws.

Among those inspected, persons with qualifications ranging from Intermediate, BA and BPharmacy to BUMS were allegedly found providing allopathic treatment at various clinics.

At Shreya Hospital, Serilingampally, Dr P. Sharath Babu, who stated that he was MBBS-qualified, allegedly presented himself as an MS Orthopaedic and Joint Replacement Surgeon and performed orthopaedic procedures. The council said the hospital’s registration, qualifications, surgical records and certificates would be examined before further action.
