HYDERABAD: Hyderabad recorded its hottest day of the season on Monday, with the mercury crossing 41°C in several areas, even as temperatures soared across Telangana. Banjara Hills and Musheerabad recorded 41.6°C, followed closely by Gajularamaram, Habsiguda, Charminar, and Khairatabad.
Adilabad breached 44°C for the first time this year, while in districts such as Asifabad, Nirmal, Mancherial, Jagtial, and Sircilla the maximum temperature hovered between 43.4 and 43.8°C.
Though parts of the city’s outskirts saw brief evening showers, most of Hyderabad remained dry despite moisture build-up and cloud cover. Kollur and Shankarpally received short bursts of rain.
The IMD-Hyderabad, has forecast a further rise in the maximum temperature by up to 3°C over the next three days. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds up to 40 kmph are likely on Tuesday and Wednesday in districts including Mulugu, Warangal, Mahabbabad, Nalgonda, Khammam, Suryapet, Medchal-Malkajgiri, and Rangareddy.
While dry weather is expected from April 23 to 25, isolated rain or thunderstorms may return on April 26 and 27. The weather office has categorised heat risk as medium to high, especially for infants, the elderly, and those with existing health issues. Residents have been advised to stay indoors during peak hours, wear breathable clothing, and maintain hydration using oral rehydration solutions or fluids like lemon water and buttermilk.
On Monday, storm activity tracked south and central Telangana by late afternoon. Narayanpet experienced a strong spell, while Vikarabad, Mahbubnagar, Siddipet, and Yadadri-Bhuvanagiri saw isolated intense showers.
