Hyderabad: Restaurants Found With Rodents, Expired Food During TG SAFE Drive
Food safety officials found expired food items and spoiled or contaminated vegetables at some establishments, which were discarded on the spot.
Hyderabad: Food safety officials found rodents, rat droppings, cockroaches and houseflies at some restaurants during their special enforcement conducted 15 establishments across the core urban region on Thursday.
Officials ordered one establishment shut for operating without license and suspended the licences of eight others for multiple violations.
The officials served five improvement notices and a showcause notice.
Eight teams of the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE), comprising food safety officers and police personnel, during their operations found expired food items and spoiled or contaminated vegetables at some establishments, which were discarded on the spot.
Prepared food items were also found stored in refrigerators in violation of food safety requirements.
The inspections also revealed poor hygiene conditions, including wet, patchy and unclean flooring.
Some establishments did not have water quality reports, pest-control records or health records of food handlers, according to TG SAFE.
The establishments inspected included Sri Krishna Family Dhaba Pure Veg at Gopanpally; Asaa Neo Indian Kitchen at Puppalguda; Girl Friend Mandi and Aroma Multicusine Restaurant at Gachibowli; Seasons Xpress at Hitec City; Sri Sai Mess at Kondapur; Godavari Ghumaghumalu at Hafeezpet and Lucky Restaurant at Bachupally.
Other establishments inspected were Yummy Bee at Sainikpuri; Aditya Restaurant and Bar at Safilguda; Box 8 and Mojo Pizza at Yousufguda; JMJ Reddy’s Delux Boys Hostel at Maisammaguda; Vaishnavi Darshini at Begum Bazaar; Spicy Hub at Kothapet and Pakwan Grand Restaurant at Raidurg.
