Hyderabad Records Telangana’s Lowest Supplementary Pass Percentage

In the second year examinations, BPC students topped all major streams with 56.04 per cent pass, followed by MPC at 50.45. HEC again recorded the lowest pass percentage at 35.97 while CEC achieved 40.94.

Hyderabad: Hyderabad recorded the state’s lowest pass percentage in the intermediate supplementary examinations, the results for which were announced by the Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) on Thursday.

In the first year general stream, Hyderabad recorded a pass percentage of 56.64, and 37.75 in the second year. Medchal-Malkajgiri followed closely with 57.8 per cent passes in the first year and 40.58 per cent in the second year. At the other end of the spectrum, Jayashankar Bhupalpally topped the state in first year results with 91.26 per cent, while Mulugu secured the highest second year pass percentage at 88.33 per cent.

Of the 1,84,042 students who passed the first year examinations, 92,960, or more than half secured A grade. Another 57,831 students obtained B grade, taking the share of A and B grade holders to nearly 82 per cent of all successful first year candidates. This cohort would include students who were taking their improvement exams.

Overall, 3,98,459 students appeared for the supplementary examinations across two years, and 2,48,681 cleared, translating to an overall success rate of about 62.4 per cent. The first year pass percentage stood at 68.84, the highest in the last three years, improving from 67.36 in 2025 and 63.82 in 2024.

Among subject groups, MPC students emerged as the strongest performers in the first year with a pass percentage of 78.57, followed by BPC at 75.16. HEC recorded the lowest first year pass percentage at 54.93, while CEC stood at 58.62.

In the second year examinations, BPC students topped all major streams with 56.04 per cent pass, followed by MPC at 50.45. HEC again recorded the lowest pass percentage at 35.97 while CEC achieved 40.94.

The first year vocational stream recorded a pass percentage of 70.88, exceeding the 68.71 achieved by the general stream. The gap widened in the second year, where vocational students achieved 65.43 per cent pass compared with 47.70 in the general stream.

The examinations were conducted from May 13 to May 21 at 889 centres across Telangana.
