Hyderabad: Raghunandan Rao Seeks White Paper on Assigned Land
The BJP MP demanded a probe by a High Court judge into alleged irregularities in the Dharani and Bhu Bharati land records.
Hyderabad: BJP Medak MP M. Raghunandan Rao on Tuesday demanded that the state government release a White Paper detailing the extent of assigned land in every district, the beneficiaries to whom it was allotted and those currently in possession of it.
The BJP MP also sought action against officials responsible for wrong entries in the 22-A list and said the revenue minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy should be dismissed if he was found guilty of lapses.
On the ongoing controversy over properties listed under Section 22-A, Raghunandan Rao expressed apprehension that the government was considering repealing the Assigned Lands (Prohibition of Transfers) Act, 1977.
He said the government should clarify its stand and ensure that poor farmers and beneficiaries were not deprived of their lands.
Raghunandan Rao launched a sharp attack on the revenue minister, alleging that he had failed to prepare adequately before speaking in the Assembly on the 22-A issue.
He claimed that Ponguleti had made factual errors while referring to Kondapak-Velkat village and the Rajiv Rahadari.
