Hyderabad Police To Roll Out AI Command Centres

HYDERABAD: For the first time ever, Hyderabad police will be introducing AI‑based mobile command centres and command and control vehicles (MCCV) to prevent crime in crowd situations.
“AI‑based crowd monitoring installed in the MCCVs will give a precise count of people in a crowd, identify offenders through facial recognition (FRC), report to the crime control unit,” city police commissioner V. C. Sajjanar told Deccan Chronicle.
He said rallies, religious processions and protests often attract unsocial elements, but with the introduction of FRC they will be immediately identified even in a crowd of thousands of people.
After AI integration, a live feed not only gives the count but also identifies individuals beforehand, passing the information to crime control units and field officers. “Within seconds our nearest team reaches and apprehends them, preventing crime,” Sajjanar said.
Very soon, police will also have a mobile set-up in MCCV. The vehicles will be equipped with BYC‑AI, an advanced AI‑powered public safety platform integrating CCTV cameras, drones, body‑worn cameras, automatic number plate recognition (ANPR), Edge AI devices, IoT sensors and secure command centres into a single intelligent ecosystem.
“We are further going to automate it. Now the human interface is sending a WhatsApp message. In future we will automate this WhatsApp message so that the human element is also removed,” said DCP Avinash Kumar for social media and city traffic.
The platform provides real‑time crowd monitoring, density analysis, queue management, drone surveillance, multi‑camera tracking, watchlist alerts using lawfully maintained records, missing person assistance, geo‑location tagging, vehicle intelligence, incident reconstruction, disaster monitoring and predictive resource planning.
It enables police and emergency agencies to improve situational awareness, accelerate response times, support investigations through AI‑assisted analytics and coordinate operations from a unified AI integrated command and control centre.
Sayed Amjad Hussain, CEO and founder of BYC‑AI, said: “My aim is to have this ready‑to‑use software combined with a mobile utility vehicle designed for deployment across cities and festivals. Using AI, WhatsApp alert messages will be sent to the nearby crime control team with pinpoint location so that offenders are apprehended. On Sajjanar’s instructions, Avinash Kumar said the automation of WhatsApp alerts will further remove human intervention.
