Hyderabad: The city police on Monday nabbed a person, who had been absconding since 2021 for his involvement in multiple Mudra loan fraud cases in tri-commissionerates of Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda.

The arrested has been identified as Shaik Jani alias Harinath Rao (34), a private employee and resident of Saroornagar. With his arrest, the police detected seven Mudra loan fraud cases across tri commissionerates, according to Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Y.V.S. Sudheendra.

He said Jani hailing from Nakrekal in Nalgonda district migrated to Hyderabad in 2011, in search of livelihood. Despite working for various private firms, he was dissatisfied with salary and faced job loss during Covid in 2020, resulting in severe financial difficulties.

While unemployed, he began watching YouTube videos related to government financial schemes and became acquainted with the Mudra loan process. He then hatched a plan to cheat people, particularly targeting women involved in small scale business, who were in urgent need of financial support.

By falsely promising assistance in securing Mudra loans, he collected money and documents from victims and fled. Based on information, the police arrested him in Hyderabad.
