Hyderabad Police Bust Hidden Treasure Scam, Arrest Four
Two four-wheelers, an auto rickshaw, two motorcycles, four mobile phones, 25 duplicate fake gold coins, six kgs coal and pooja material were seized from the possession of the arrested persons
Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police busted a racket involving cheating of innocent persons on the false pretext of locating hidden treasure buried beneath houses and arrested four persons.
The arrested have been identified as Mohd Munawar alias Munna (36) of a painter and resident of Gudimalkapur, Syed Ali Ashraf (40), an electrician and Mohd Haji (25) an auto rickshaw driver, both residents of Jawahar Nagar, and Mohd Salman (29), a bike mechanic of Keesara.
Two four-wheelers, an auto rickshaw, two motorcycles, four mobile phones, 25 duplicate fake gold coins, six kgs coal and pooja material were seized from the possession of the arrested persons.
The prime accused Mohd Munawar started car’s denting and painting work after completion of his studies and earning money for his livelihood. However, as his income was insufficient to meet his family expenses, he allegedly hatched a plan to cheat gullible persons by claiming that he had special knowledge and the ability to locate hidden treasure buried beneath their houses.
Accordingly, Munawar contacted his friends namely Syed Ali Ashraf, Mohd. Haji and Mohd. Salman, and explained his plan to them. All of them agreed to join him in the illegal activity with an intention to earn easy money.
The accused persons thereafter approached innocent and gullible people and represented that they possessed special knowledge and could locate hidden treasure buried underground in residential premises.
After digging the ground, they planted a sack containing coal along with duplicate gold-coated coins. Further, the accused persons absconded from the place, stating that it would take some time to convert the coal into gold.
