The police said cyber criminals are exploiting the huge craze for the match between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Royal Challengers Bangalore to be held at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad on May 22.

Taking advantage of the demand for tickets among fans, they have launched fake apps and websites to exploit them. Currently, many advertisements are appearing on social media regarding IPL ticket booking.

They have created fake apps with colors and logos similar to the official ticketing partner 'District' app and are promising to offer tickets at a lower price. “If you click on these fake links that look like the real app and book tickets, you are sure to lose your money,” Hyderabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar in a post on ‘X’

“If the tickets do not arrive after payment, there is a risk that your banking details will also be stolen by cybercriminals. Do not be duped by the unofficial links that appear on social media in the excitement of watching the match,” he said.

“We have kept an eye on such fake apps and websites. If anyone knows about such fake apps or websites, they should immediately file a complaint with the police. We appeal to cricket lovers to be vigilant and not let your hard-earned money go to the hands of scammers,” he added.
