Firefighters douse fire at CCI godown
HYDERABAD: After a 15-hour-long operation. firefighters from various stations doused the blaze at the Cotton Corporation of India’s Rajashekhar Reddy godown in Pudur village, Medchal on Sunday, said SFO N. Venkata Ramana Reddy.
There were no casualties in the fire that broke out on Saturday. The damage has been estimated at around `60 crore. What started the fire, which damaged the walls of the godown apart from 10,000 bales of cotton, is yet to be established. Fire teams from Shamirpet, Jeedimetla, Cherlapally, Sanathnagar, Malkajgiri, Secunderabad and Ramayampet divisions doused the blaze.
One vehicle is still on the spot to make sure to have a backup just in case a problem occurs, the SFO said.
Two Ugandan Nationals arrested for operating brothel
The Osmania University police arrested three persons, including two Ugandan nationals and a customer, for operating a brothel at Nagarjunanagar, Tarnaka. The operation was conducted by the north zone task force and the OU police.
Police identified the brothel organisers as Nayebare Doreen, 42, and Komuhangi Ritah, 22. Cash worth `12,190 and five cell phones worth `65,000 were recovered among other material from the accused’s possession.
Police said Doreen was staying in a rented apartment in Tarnaka for four months, running the brothel with the assistance Ritah. She has uploaded her cell number in an online platform. Customers were first sent to a location in Secunderabad and then directed to the brothel.
Three arrested for carrying drugs
HYDERABAD: The Chandanagar police arrested three persons for carrying drugs, during a regular vehicle checking, Madhapur DCP Dr Vineeth G. said on Sunday. He identified the accused as Chaman of Haryana, Shivampeta Umakanth and Arjuna Sai Krishna, of Bowenpally. Rakesh, a native of Haryana, is currently at large.
The accused were nabbed on November 29 at Gangaram and police found them to be carrying 60 packets of dry ganja. Chaman admitted that he was the driver and was transporting dry ganja from Odisha to the city. On the way, he was joined by Umakanth and Krishna on a motorcycle. He revealed that the contraband was arranged by Rakesh.
A total of 57 kgs of ganja, worth `18 lakh, was recovered from the accused.
