Hyderabad: Madhapur Drug Bust: 8 Consumers Identified, Blood Samples Sent To FSL

HYDERABAD: In a recent drug bust in Madhapur, police identified eight drug consumers linked to the arrested peddler, revealing that all of them were acquaintances residing in the same apartment complex, where the raid was conducted.

According to a source, the prime accused, Dhanekula Tharun Teja, 22, a native of Vijayawada was residing at an apartment in Chandra Naik Thanda under Madhapur police limits from where he operated a drug distribution and consumption network. Officials said all eight consumers have been procuring drugs from Teja.

During a joint raid conducted by Madhapur police and the Kukatpally SOT on Saturday, police seized 15 grams of MDMA, 382 grams of OG Kush ganja, nine mobile phones, two weighing machines and drug consumption and packing materials from the premises.

Police said urine tests conducted on all nine individuals, including the arrested accused, tested positive. Blood samples were also collected and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for detailed examination. The eight consumers were served notices and were counselled and referred to de-addiction and rehabilitation centres, police said.

Investigators further revealed that two absconding accused, identified as Karthik and Pruthvi, both natives of Vijayawada, allegedly supplied the contraband to Teja. Police teams are currently on the lookout for the duo and are probing the wider supply chain.


Elderly man dies after suicide bid

A 78 year old man from Muchinthal in Shamshabad, J. Narayana, died while undergoing treatment after allegedly attempting suicide at his residence earlier this month.

According to Shamshabad police, Narayana fractured his leg after slipping and falling at his house about 20 days ago. He had since been bedridden and unable to walk, with family members arranging treatment.

Police said that on the night of June 1, the family had dinner and went to sleep. In the early hours of June 2, they noticed Narayana coughing and allegedly sensed a chemical smell near him. He was rushed to a private hospital in Shamshabad and later shifted to Gandhi Hospital on June 11.

Doctors at Gandhi Hospital declared him dead on Sunday afternoon while he was undergoing treatment. Shamshabad police registered a case of unnatural death and are investigating.

Telangana Prisons Dept Proposes ITI Inside Cherlapalli Central Jail


The Telangana prisons department has proposed the establishment of a government industrial training institute (ITI) within the premises of Central Prison, Cherlapalli to provide inmates with technical and vocational skills to support their reintegration into society after release.

As part of the preparatory process, Director-General, prisons, Dr Soumya Mishra visited the National Skill Training Institute (NSTI) and the National Skill Training Institute for Women here to study infrastructure requirements, training methodologies and course delivery mechanisms for the proposed institute.

Dr Mishra interacted with trainees and faculty members and held discussions with officials from the skill development and entrepreneurship department regarding curriculum implementation, certification procedures and collaboration opportunities for prisoner skill development initiatives. Dr Mishra also visited the Cherlapalli prison and reviewed infrastructure requirements, affiliation procedures and other preparatory arrangements.

Tension in Manikonda After Rangoli Powder Mistaken for Occult Rituals

A disagreement over special prayers triggered tension in Shivajinagar, Manikonda, after residents objected to ritual items placed outside a house, resulting in an altercation between the two groups. According to Raidurgam police, some residents raised concerns after noticing red-coloured powder placed outside a house and suspected occult-related activity.

Police clarified that the incident had no connection to witchcraft or black magic. Officials said the red substance, which some residents believed to be kumkum used for tantric rituals, was infact coloured rangoli powder used for regular rangoli. Tension escalated after neighbours questioned the family over the rituals, leading to a heated argument between both sides. During the confrontation, a woman threw chilli powder into the eyes of members of the opposite group, triggering panic in the locality.

Police rushed to the area and brought the situation under control. Police registered separate cases under the BNS against Prabhakar and two others from one group and Narasimha and three others from the rival party. Police said an investigation is underway into the incident and appealed to residents not to spread rumours surrounding the issue.
