Hyderabad: Jewellery Heist Foiled; Five Nabbed
The breakthrough came after investigators followed up on fingerprints lifted at the store. One fingerprint led the teams to Azeez, who was also wanted by the Sadashivpet, Medchal and Chaderghat police station.

Hyderabad: Keesara police, in a dramatic chase involving four patrol vehicles, arrested a five-member gang on Monday for their role in an attempted jewellery store robbery at Nagaram on January 2.
Malkajgiri DCP Ch. Sridhar identified the accused as Nazeem Azeez, Bishu Karma, Saif Ali, Rajender Singh and Ratan Singh, all said to be involved in similar cases earlier. The gang carried knives and a dummy pistol to threaten victims.
On Friday, during the attempted heist, Rajender Singh and Saif Ali had entered the shop in Nagaram posing as customers. On finding only shop personnel in the premises, and no other customers, they called in Azeez and Karma, who attacked owner Sandeep Gehlot. Though injured, Gehlot resisted, and the gang fled with a few jewellery pieces.
The breakthrough came after investigators followed up on fingerprints lifted at the store. One fingerprint led the teams to Azeez, who was also wanted by the Sadashivpet, Medchal and Chaderghat police station. That investigation report also mentioned Ratan Singh as one of the associates.
Police traced and picked up Ratan Singh, who admitted that he had sheltered the gang after the robbery. He also disclosed that the gang was heading towards Yacharam.
While analysing Ratan’s call detail records (CDRs), investigators identified the new SIM card which turned out to belong to Azeez. They tracked Azeez’s movements via the SIM card.
Keesara police then launched an intensive search and came upon the gang. The accused, who were travelling in a self-drive car, attempted to evade the police but were intercepted and apprehended. Police seized a car, a two-wheeler and a dummy pistol from the accused.
