Hyderabad: Hotelier Nabbed for Drug Peddling
Several of these pubs are now under scrutiny for allegedly allocating concealed areas for drug use. Surya also sourced cocaine from Nigerian nationals during visits to Goa and New Delhi.

Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on urban drug networks, the EAGLE (Elite Action Group for Drug Law Enforcement) unit, with Cyberabad narcotics police, arrested hotelier Surya Annamaneni, 34, for drug peddling and consumption.
Surya, a BTech and MBA graduate from reputed institutions and a resident of Kompally. With specific input against him, police intercepted him near his Malnadu Kitchen restaurant in Kompally on July 7. Narcotics were found hidden in his car, including 10 grams of cocaine, 3.2 grams of OG Kush and 1.6 grams of ecstasy pills.
The cocaine was concealed in the heel of a lady’s chappal, packed in a pink box, and sent via courier from New Delhi under the alias "Fatima". EAGLE noted this reflects the growing sophistication of drug concealment.
Surya revealed links with Nigerian drug traffickers—Nick, Jerry, Dezmond, Stanley and Prince—based in Delhi, Bengaluru and Goa. He regularly ordered cocaine and MDMA from Nick, transferring Rs 1.39 lakh via Ternion Hospitality account and another Rs 41,000 through ATM to bank accounts.
The drugs were delivered through couriers, hidden in household items and stored in his car or restaurant. Surya confessed to over 20 cocaine purchases between 2021 and 2025, often consuming it in pubs like Prism, Farm Pub, Block 22, Bird Box, Xora, Broadway and Quake Arena.
Several of these pubs are now under scrutiny for allegedly allocating concealed areas for drug use. Surya also sourced cocaine from Nigerian nationals during visits to Goa and New Delhi.
The police named 15 other businessmen in the case: Vellipaka Mohan, Harsha, Vikram Reddy, Yashwanth, Navdeep Reddy, Sandeep Korapati Venkat, Jaswanth, Sunil, Dr Prasanna, Sandeep Juwadi, Rohit, Pawan, Srideep, Tanuj, Pruthvi and Rohit Medishetty.
Surya was sourcing drugs with Harsha’s help and allegedly hosted drug parties in pubs. Officials said some pub managements provided special rooms, music and services to drug users. Action would be taken after summoning them.
Surya also routed payments through Ternion Hospitality, a firm he floated after acquiring the Madhapur-based restaurant formerly known as Cirq.
The seized narcotics were weighed, sealed and labelled (P1 to P6), with the process video-documented in the presence of government mediators and clues teams. The seizure complied with Sections 42(2) and 50 of the NDPS Act.
A case was registered under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(A), 22(a), 22(b), 27A and 29 of the NDPS Act. Surya has been remanded to judicial custody. The investigation continues into financial trails, courier networks, digital evidence and the involvement of commercial establishments.
Police said the case illustrates how educated individuals, digital payments and nightlife culture are increasingly intertwined in high-value drug trafficking rin
