The Budget estimate of the GHMC for the 2025-26 fiscal stands at Rs 8,340 crore, Rs 403 crore hike from the previous fiscal’s Rs 7,937 crore.
The civic body has earmarked a lion’s share, Rs 1,207 crore, for infrastructure development,. They include expenditure towards construction of flyovers and underpasses as part of the Hyderabad City Innovative and Transformative Infrastructure’ (HCITI).
An additional Rs 300 crore has been earmarked for construction and improvement of housing units for the economically weaker sections. The revised budget estimate for 2024-25 was Rs 8,150 crore while the approved amount was Rs 7,937 crore.
As against a revenue of Rs 4,205 crore, the capital expenditure has been put at Rs 4,404 crore. The corporation’s major revenue sources will be property taxes and building permissions.
While Rs 687 crore is for solid waste management and Rs 785 crore for the city roads, including their maintenance. In order to provide a safe commute, Rs 186 crore has been slotted for street lights in the city.
While the thrust has been on roads and cleanliness activities, priority has also been given to rejuvenation of lakes and conservation of heritage structures. To execute these tasks, Rs 168 crore has been proposed, while Rs 41 crore is earmarked for public toilets. Improving of sports facilities is also a priority and Rs 20 crore has been earmarked for it.
