Hyderabad: 'Farmers Let Down' - Harish Steps Up Attacks On Revanth

Every farmer who grows maize, sorghum, soybean, groundnut and sunflower will be affected severely, and their woes will multiply after this Kharif crop season: Harish Rao

HYDERABAD: Former minister and senior BRS leader T. Harish Rao on Monday accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and the Congress government of “betraying farmers, neglecting welfare, and imposing an unbearable burden on the people through taxes and price hikes.”

Addressing a meeting of party leaders and workers at Achampet in Nagarkurnool district, Harish Rao said the government owed farmers a cumulative ₹29,350 crore under Rythu Bharosa.

The Chief Minister reneged on his promise of bonus for crops, and abandoned procurement saying only the amount of grains the Centre will take from the state will be purchased by the Congress government, Harish Rao said.

Every farmer who grows maize, sorghum, soybean, groundnut and sunflower will be affected severely, and their woes will multiply after this Kharif crop season, Harish Rao said.

He said “Revanth Reddy is acting like the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb who imposed various taxes on people. The government has burdened people with increased prices and taxes, including hikes in petrol and diesel prices, fertiliser costs, RTA charges and liquor prices.”

The BRS leader alleged that the Chief Minister was finding funds to spend on non-essential projects, to construct a ₹100-crore guest house, organise football events, and publish advertisements worth hundreds of crores in other states.
