BTech Student Killed, 4 Hurt in Accident

Police said the accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving. A case has been registered and the lorry driver has been taken into custody.

Hyderabad: A 22-year-old BTech student studying in Brilliant College died on the spot and four others were injured in a road accident near Mukunda Dairy at Singareni Colony on Tuesday morning.

According to Abdullapurmet inspector Ashok Reddy, the incident occurred at around 9.40 am when three students from Brilliant College were travelling towards Annamacharya College, Kothaguda, to appear in an examination. “They were riding on a bike that was moving at a high speed. While overtaking a lorry, the bike reportedly hit an oncoming scooter, causing a collision. In the impact, pillion rider Bandala Hamsa Lekha, daughter of Narasimha and a final-year CSE student, fell and came under the wheels of the lorry and died on the spot,” Reddy, said. Another student Deepthi also a final-year CSE student, sustained injuries. Bike rider Ganesh, scooter rider Sai Ganesh and pillion rider Banu Prakash were also injured in the crash.

Police said the accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving. A case has been registered and the lorry driver has been taken into custody. Further probe is underway.
