Hyderabad: Elderly Man Reunited With Family

Hyderabad: An 85‑year‑old man who had gone missing was traced and reunited with his family in humanitarian efforts by Chilkalguda police on Monday.

The senior citizen, Shaik Ismail of Khadri Bagh, Amberpet, left home on May 22 for evening namaz but did not return, Chilkalguda police station SHO V. Ramakrishna said. Two days later, police staff spotted him wandering aimlessly in the Chilkalguda area and took him into protective care.

Initially, Ismail could not disclose his complete address. After a patient enquiry, he said he lived in Moula Ali and that his son worked as an auto driver. Police gave publicity in newspapers and initiated ground efforts to identify him.

Under the guidance of ACP K. Shashank Reddy, SI Chandraiah and Home Guard Pitchaiah took Ismail to Moula Ali. Local auto drivers recognised him and informed his sons, Shaik Saleem, a material supplier, and Shaik Kaleem, an auto driver.

Meanwhile, Kaleem had approached Amberpet police station to lodge a missing complaint. Shortly afterwards, he received word that his father had been traced by Chilkalguda police. He informed Amberpet police and withdrew the complaint, Ramakrishna said.
