Hyderabad: EAPCET Toppers Shun State Colleges

“Students will prefer IITs and NITs over state engineering colleges”: Officials

Hyderabad: Toppers in the Eapcet engineering stream have shunned state colleges, with only five of the top 100 rankers registering for admissions in state engineering colleges for 2026-27.

Statistics released by the technical education department on Wednesday showed that only 42 candidates among ranks 101–500 booked slots for certificate verification. Overall, 6,691 students registered among the top 10,000 ranks.

Officials said many aspirants also crack JEE Main and Advanced and appear for EAPCET to test their performance. “Students will prefer IITs and NITs over state engineering colleges,” they noted.

As many as 84,002 candidates paid the processing fee and booked slots for verification, while 36,393 attended certificate verification as of June 24. The last date for verification is June 29.

The mock seat allocation will be released on or before July 4, after which students can modify web options if required. The provisional seat allotment will be released on or before July 10.

Students have been advised not to disclose credentials during the option process and to exercise as many choices as possible to secure admission in a better college in the first phase itself.
