Hyderabad DCC Equips BLAs with Special App to Identify Duplicate Voters

Named ‘BLA App,’ the app was developed by Hyderabad DCC president Khalid Saifullah, a techie, who said that the application has been developed to empower grassroots Congress workers with technology-driven tools for voter verification and electoral roll management.

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad district Congress committee (DCC) has developed an app to assist party’s booth level agents (BLAs) in identifying duplicate voters and assisting the people in the ongoing SIR process.

Named ‘BLA App,’ the app was developed by Hyderabad DCC president Khalid Saifullah, a techie, who said that the application has been developed to empower grassroots Congress workers with technology-driven tools for voter verification and electoral roll management.

Explaining its features to Deccan Chronicle, Saifullah said that every registered BLA would receive secure access through OTP-based login. Once logged in, BLAs can access a ‘potential duplicate voters’ section that automatically highlights voter records with matching details such as name, father's name, house number and other identifiers.

He said the app enabled BLAs to quickly identify possible duplicate entries and submit the necessary forms to the Election Commission for verification and deletion of duplicate records.

The app also includes a voter mapping module that provides booth-wise voter details and enables BLAs to conduct field surveys alongside booth level officers (BLOs). Through the survey feature, volunteers can guide citizens regarding documentation requirements under the SIR process.

Saifullah emphasised that maintaining a clean and accurate voter list is the responsibility of BLAs. “Neither the Chief Minister, nor senior Congress leaders, nor district leadership can perform this task. Only a dedicated BLA working at the booth level can identify and report duplicate voters effectively,” he added.
