Hyderabad Communities Bid Big For Ganesh Laddus This Festive Season
The auction season will continue, with auctions at Keerthi Richmond Villas and My Home Bhooja scheduled for September 23. Both communities have recorded high-value laddu bids in previous years.
Hyderabad: The tradition of auctioning the Ganesh laddu, considered highly auspicious by devotees, drew enthusiastic participation across residential communities in Hyderabad this festival season, with bids ranging from Rs.45,000 to a staggering Rs.21.11 lakh.
At My Home Mangala in Kondapur, the laddu fetched Rs.21.11 lakh, with Sambashiva Rao and Naveen winning the bid.
At Indis Viva City in Kondapur, Ramsri Goutham and his wife, Vaishali Bholewar, won the laddu for Rs.13.21 lakh, against Rs.12.9 lakh last year. “The auction proceeds will be used for next year’s Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations by the community committee,” Goutham said. He added that he dedicated the laddu to his parents, Bala Rangaiah and Ramani.
At Raghupathi County in Pragathi Nagar, Naren Chowdary and his friends won the laddu for Rs.13.66 lakh, while at Devisthan Homes in Kukatpally, it fetched Rs.10.05 lakh.
At GKRS Palacio Villas in Bandlaguda Jagir, Ramesh won the laddu for Rs,4.50 lakh. “The auction has become an important part of our community celebrations, and residents participate with a lot of enthusiasm every year. Winning the laddu is a matter of devotion as well as a memorable moment for our family,” he said.
At Golf View in Nanakramguda, the laddu was auctioned for Rs.2.60 lakh on September 19, against Rs.3.68 lakh last year.
“Half of the auction proceeds will be spent on philanthropic activities, while the remaining half will be used for next year’s Ganesh celebrations,” community member A. Narasimhan said. He added that the bidding was conducted by groups rather than individuals.
At Aparna Cyber Commune, the laddu fetched Rs.45,000 this year, according to community member Rajeev Gautam.
The auctions have also emerged as a community tradition, with residents treating the sacred offering as a symbol of devotion. The proceeds are often used to support future Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations and social or philanthropic activities.
