Hyderabad: CMC To Name US Consulate Road Donald Trump Avenue
First Indian Road to be named after the US President: Reports

HYDERABAD: A day after a commemoration plaque was unveiled rename a road beside the US Consulate as Donald Trump Avenue, the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) standing committee on Wednesday approved the proposal. Donald Trump Avenue stretches from Q City junction to the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India junction.
According to the government, the road was renamed to reinforce Telangana’s practice of honouring global leaders and companies that have contributed to Hyderabad’s emergence as a global powerhouse for IT innovation.
The proposal has drawn criticism from the BJP with its state president N. Ramchander Rao speaking up against it.
The other major proposal approved by the committee was development of sports infrastructure at five locations in Serilingampally zone through corporate social responsibility (CSR), public-private partnership or other suitable implementation models.
Another proposal related to sports that was approved was development of a sports arena under the PJR flyover that has been already painted with murals of football stars.
The other major proposal approved was Project Ashray, under which rest and wellness hubs for gig and delivery workers will be built at five locations in Serilingampally zone under CSR. Expression of interest will be invited for sweeping machines.
The meeting was held on Tuesday in the presence of Jayesh Ranjan, special chief secretary for metropolitan area and urban development (HMDA limits).
Elsewhere, the Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation (MMC) standing committee meeting approved a proposal for the construction of animal birth control /animal care centre in Jawaharnagar.
Pertaining to mitigating urban flooding proposals were approved for the construction of stormwater drain from Irrigation Nala to Musi River in Road No.48 in Uppal Bhagayath Phase-1 at a cost of ₹5.8 crore.
A proposal to accord administrative sanction for an amount of ₹3 crore to construct stormwater drain in Road No. 55 in the same layout was also approved. Construction of a multi sports arena with ₹4.95 crore in Uppal Bhagayath Phase-I was also approved.
