Hyderabad City Police Reorganised After 35 years

Hyderabad: After 35 long years, Hyderabad city police has been reorganised with two additional law and order zones, 11 law and order divisions, an additional traffic zone, 11 additional law and order police stations, 13 traffic police stations, seven women’s police wings in each of the seven zones, a separate cybercrime init, IT wing and a narcotics wing.

An extra strength of 1,200 police personnel has been sanctioned and deployed in the additional zones as per the GO number-57 of the Home Legal Dept, dated April 24, 2025, said city police commissioner C.V. Anand.

“We have added two additional law and order zones in south east and south west zones, 11 new ACP’s in seven zones, one additional traffic zone added, 11 more new police stations making it to 72 in the entire seven zones,” Anand said.

“We now have 13 more traffic police stations with a total of 31 across the city. We also have a Women Safety Wing in each of the seven zones. Additionally, an extra strength of 1,200 police personnel have been added in the respective zones,” the senior police official added.

“In the past few years, a few complaints have been received from the public regarding minor jurisdictional issues, inconvenience in travelling to their new police stations. Similarly, our officers have also given feedback about some issues, like confusion in traffic and L&O police in some areas over jurisdictions and the need to strengthen cybercrime wing. Considering these, a detailed consultations was held with all stakeholders – public, public representatives, HCP officers of all ranks. Modifications

were proposed to the state government with only internal readjustment and reallotment of the entire HCP sanctioned strength of 17,020, without a single paisa financial burden to which the state government has approved the proposed readjustments vide GO No. 57,” the commissioner said.

It is expected that these changes will make the Hyderabad city police more efficient and people-friendly in the next decade, he said.
