Hyderabad: Case Booked Over Dangerously Tilted G+4 Building in Gopanpally
Police said the case was under investigation and the responsibility of those who allegedly neglected safety in the construction and maintenance of the structure was being examined.
Hyderabad: The four-storeyed building which had started tilted in Gachibowli’s Gopanapally on Friday was demolished by authorities on Saturday using the Bahubali crane.
The four-floor structure was raised on a small 50-square yard plot, and rented out to families and students. The building, according to residents, tilted to the side at 8 am on Friday, causing panic among locals.
Authorities of the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC), along with Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) and Gachibowli police evacuated the residents.
On Saturday, HYDRAA along with CMC brought in a 90-foot hydraulic crusher crane and demolished the tilted building.
Speaking with Deccan Chronicle, authorities said they were careful with the demolition as the building is adjacent to another 05-storeyed building.
“The rear wall of the tilted building adjoins another building. We evacuated the residents of that five-storey building as a precautionary measure, and we took careful steps while demolishing the building,” authorities said.
Meanwhile, the Gachibowli police registered a case against the owner and others responsible for the tilted building. CMC town planning officials inspected the building at Plot No. 31/P in Survey No. 124/D,
Based on a complaint lodged by the CMC assistant city planner, Circle 49, Serilingampally, SLP zone, Gachibowli police registered under BNS Sections 125 and 290 against Viswanathapalli Lakshmi and others responsible for the construction and maintenance of the building.
Police said the case was under investigation and the responsibility of those who allegedly neglected safety in the construction and maintenance of the structure was being examined.
Further action will follow based on the investigation.
