BRS MLC Tata Madhu Arrested, Tension at New MLA Quarters
Police also took BRS MLC Naveen Reddy into custody at his residence in Kokapet.
Hyderabad: A tense situation prevailed at the New MLA Quarters on Tuesday morning. Police arrived in large numbers, and BRS MLC Tata Madhu was arrested following his his derogatory remarks against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar. He was transferred to Narayanguda Police Station. An SC/ST Atrocities Act case has been registered against Tata Madhu. Police are likely to produce him before the Nampally court today. Madhu was arrested based on a complaint filed by Speaker's OSD Pollempalli Venkatesham.
Police also took BRS MLC Naveen Reddy into custody at his residence in Kokapet.
Chief Minister A, Revanth Reddy has demanded that Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy immediately dismiss and expel BRS MLC Tata Madhusudhan from the Upper House, following his derogatory remarks against Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar on Monday.
Speaking in the House, the Chief Minister said that this was not only a personal insult to Prasad Kumar but to the dignity of the Speaker's chair, the House, and for all of Telangana. Calling it a ‘dark day’, Revanth Reddy said that the language that MLC Madhusudhan used against the Speaker and his family was unpardonable.
On Monday, security personnel denied entry to BRS leaders after they arrived wearing protest T-shirts targeting the ruling Congress government. The T-shirts carried slogans such as “Congress failed to implement its guarantees” and “1,000 days of rule is a failure."
