Hyderabad: Representatives of the Telangana Autorickshaw Unions and App-based Autorickshaw Unions JAC met transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar on Saturday, raising issues discussed during their meeting on September 7.
The JAC leaders urged the minister to revise auto meter charges, proposing a minimum fare of ₹40 and a per km rate of ₹18.
The minister assured that the decisions taken at the earlier meeting would be implemented immediately.
He said modalities for an Autorickshaw Workers’ Welfare Board were being worked out and a dedicated government app was under development.
Union leaders suggested restricting autorickshaws from other districts and instead issuing permits for Hyderabad city to drivers from those districts to meet their needs.
The minister also asked the unions to nominate a five-member group to meet him weekly to address drivers’ concerns.
