Hyderabad Among Hottest Cities as Daytime Temperatures Rise Across Country
The IMD forecast that dry weather was likely to continue across Telangana over the next week

Hyderabad: Temperatures continued to rise across the state on Saturday, with several districts crossing 41°C, even as Hyderabad remained comparatively lower but on a steady upward trend.
According to data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Hyderabad, Endapalli in Jagtial district was the warmest at 41.7°C, followed by Khammam, Mulugu, Nalgonda and Nirmal. Multiple districts saw the mercury remainng above the 40°C mark through the day.
The IMD forecast that dry weather was likely to continue across Telangana over the next week, with the maximum temperature expected to increase by 2 to 3°C in the coming days. No weather warnings have been issued for this period.
Statewide, the average maximum temperature stood at 39.5°C, about 0.8°C above normal. Several districts showed a positive departure from normal temperatures, indicating a gradual build-up of heat conditions.
In Hyderabad, the temperature remained lower compared to other districts, recording around 38.8°C at Asifnagar. Across the city, most locations recorded between 37.6°C and 38.7°C. The IMD has forecast that temperatures in the city could touch around 39°C to 40°C over the next two days, with partly cloudy skies and hazy conditions in the morning.
Data from Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) also showed that northern and eastern districts were seeing faster increases in temperature compared to the city.
Meanwhile, data from Down To Earth’s daily heat tracker showed that seven cities, including Hyderabad, recorded above-normal daytime temperatures, while cities like Thiruvananthapuram and Bengaluru saw notable increases, and Chennai recorded a high night-time temperature of 28.5°C. Among these cities, Hyderabad’s was the highest day temperature at 37.8°C.
With dry weather conditions persisting and no immediate relief expected, heat levels are likely to intensify gradually across Telangana, particularly in districts already crossing the 40°C threshold.
