Hyderabad All Set For International Kite & Sweet Festival; Wind Conditions Ideal

Hyderabad: Hyderabad has geared up for the international kite and sweet festival scheduled at Secunderabad Parade Ground from January 13 to 15.

As per the IMD, dry weather will prevail this week and will be favourable for kites to fly and balloons to operate.
The wind will prevail from 4-8km per hour this week. Winds will be calm at the lower level and in the upper levels it is stronger, said the IMD official Dr. Dharma Raju.
"There is no rainfall forecast for the city this week and weather conditions will remain dry and suitable for flying kites," he said.
Pavan Solanki, kite consultant with Telangana Tourism department, said that there is no wind problem in Hyderabad, which has good windy conditions in the morning.
"We will be flying kites in the afternoon and they will leave till the evening or till favourable wind conditions," he said, adding that compared to other cities, professional kite flyers can experience better wind in Hyderabad.
As many as 95 professional kite flyers, including from 40 countries such as Indonesia, Australia, Canada, Sri Lanka, Cambodia, Thailand, Korea, Japan, Portugal, Vietnam, Malaysia, Italy, Switzerland, Japan, Russia, Ukraine and France, will take part in the festival. In addition, 55 national kite flyers from different States will also be part of the three-day event during which different types of kites with huge sizes will be flown.
