Hyderabad: In a major crackdown on illegal spa operations, Rachakonda Commissionerate police booked 46 criminal cases against spa centre owners and managers for alleged violations ranging from operating without permissions to maintaining concealed rooms and failing to verify customer identities.
During a special enforcement and verification drive carried out in coordination with the Special Operations Team (SOT), police inspected 113 spa centres functioning across the commissionerate limits and detected multiple irregularities.
Malkajgiri commissioner B. Sumathi said several spa centres were operating without mandatory permissions and regulatory approvals. “Raiding teams also found multiple establishments with closed partition rooms lacking transparent glass doors, violating prescribed safety norms and facilitating suspicious activities. It was also found that several spas failed to collect and maintain valid identity proof documents such as Aadhaar cards, driving licences or other government‑issued identification from customers, raising serious security concerns. Many centres were also operating without display boards and failed to maintain mandatory customer, employee and therapist records,” she said.
