Hyderabad: 34 More Dialysis Centers In Pipeline For Tribal Areas

HYDERABAD: Over 25 dialysis centres are providing treatment to 1,373 active patients in Agency districts, health minister Damodar Rajanarsimha was informed in a review meeting on Wednesday.

He also reviewed the government's plan to establish 34 additional dialysis centres with 170 beds in Agency areas. He also reviewed the proposal to establish 37 additional acute kidney injury beds in 12 priority hospitals to strengthen emergency renal care.

Rajanarsimha asked officials about the progress of digital health profiling in tribal areas. He said that forests, hilly terrain, remote habitations and transportation challenges should never become obstacles to providing timely medical care.

Directing officials to remain on high alert during the monsoon, Rajanarsimha instructed them to take preventive measures against seasonal diseases such as malaria, dengue, viral fevers and diarrhoea. He stressed that all government hospitals should maintain adequate stocks of medicines, diagnostic kits, IV fluids and other essential medical supplies.

He also directed officials to organise special medical camps in vulnerable tribal habitations wherever necessary and ensure uninterrupted functioning of ambulance services.

The minister directed officials to intensify screening and management of sickle cell disease, Thalassemia, anaemia and tuberculosis in tribal areas. He also instructed the department to expand mobile cancer screening services and strengthen the implementation of the cancer notification programme to facilitate early diagnosis and timely treatment.
