Hyderabad: 3-year-old Boy Falls Into Swimming Pool, Dies
The incident reportedly went unnoticed for some time before family members found the boy floating in the water.

Hyderabad: A three-and-a-half-year-old boy died allegedly after drowning in a swimming pool at a gated community building at Nizampet in KPHB on Sunday.
The deceased, Arjun Kumar, was residing at Chintal with his family. The incident occurred at Vertex Prime Apartments gated community, where the boy’s grandparents are residing, said KPHB sub-inspector and investigating officer Srinivas Yadav.
According to a complaint lodged by the father of the deceased, M. Sarath Kumar, the family had gone to the apartment for the weekend. Sarath left for Chintal later on Saturday night after leaving his wife and his son Arjun at his in-laws’ house.
The next morning, at around 8 am, Arjun had accompanied his grandparents for a morning walk. While his grandparents were seated nearby, Arjun went for playing and accidentally slipped into the swimming pool, which had a depth of four feet.
About 10 minutes later, the grandparents discovered that the boy was missing and started searching for him. But later, they found him floating in the pool, KPHB police said.
The grandfather immediately brought Arjun out and shifted him to a nearby private hospital. Doctors administered a Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), but they could not revive the boy. He was declared dead on arrival.
Based on the complaint, the KPHB police have registered a case against the gated community’s management, under Section 106 of the BNS (death due to negligence), over security and safety lapses.
“Vertex is responsible for my son’s death. There was no one around, no security guard at the pool,” Sarath, the father of the deceased, told Deccan Chronicle, demanding action against the gated community’s management.
Remembering his son, Sarath said, “Just four months back, he turned three. We celebrated his birthday by inviting all his friends. He was so happy. And now he is gone, at such a young age.”
The boy’s death has left his mother in severe mental distress, the father revealed. Arjun was the couple’s only child.
“The swimming pool lacked a dedicated gate and fencing, instead had just one chain. There were no supervisors present to prevent children from not entering the water without a swimming tube. There was no one around when the incident occurred and the pool was left unattended,” IO Srinivas said.
The boy’s body was shifted to the Gandhi mortuary for postmortem examination. The police are currently in the process of issuing notices to the management of the gated community. Further investigation into the incident is underway.
