Hyd Hosts APAC Biodesign Meet

Workshops at T-Hub and T-Works on 22–23 August will focus on shared training resources, design toolkits and sustaining collaboration beyond the summit: Reports

HYDERABAD: Global and regional innovators in medical equipment will convene in Hyderabad this month to explore affordable, indigenous alternatives. AIG Hospitals will host the APAC BioDesign Innovation Summit 2025 on August 24, bringing together leading programmes from across the Asia–Pacific region to discuss translating medical device ideas from concept to application.

Co-organised by the AIM (AI & Medtech Alliance) Foundation, Bharat BioDesign and BioDesign Israel, the event will feature presentations from APAC programme leaders, healthcare and life sciences innovation spotlights, a MedTech innovation workshop and a panel on support systems for emerging projects.

Workshops at T-Hub and T-Works on 22–23 August will focus on shared training resources, design toolkits and sustaining collaboration beyond the summit. Participating organisations include the Stanford Byers/Mussallem Center for Biodesign (USA), Japan Biodesign, Singapore Biodesign and BioInnovate Ireland.

Dr D. Nageshwar Reddy, chairman of AIG Hospitals and chair of the summit’s steering committee, stressed the importance of converting clinical needs into reliable, locally manufactured devices to achieve world-class healthcare at scale. He cited high-value imports such as MRI machines, robotic surgery systems and dialysis equipment as areas where domestic manufacturing capacity remains limited.

The Indian MedTech market, currently valued at around $12 billion, is expected to grow to $50 billion by 2030. The summit will also offer students, start-ups and clinicians’ exposure to BioDesign methods, regulatory requirements and commercialisation pathways.
