Hundreds of Adivasis and Leaders Paid Rich Tributes to the Indravelli Martyrs

Adilabad:Hundreds of Adivasis and political leaders paid tributes to the Indravelli martyrs on the 45th Indravelli Martyrs Memorial Day in Adilabad on Monday and sought identification of victims not officially recognised so that their families could receive government assistance.
Among those who attended were Adilabad MP Godam Nagesh, Asifabad MLA Kova Laxmi, Khanapur MLA Vedma Bojju, former MP Soyam Bapu Rao, former Maoist Pulluri Prasada Rao, and DCC presidents Atram Suguna and Naresh Jadhav.
Addressing the gathering, Vedma Bojju said the government was committed to the welfare of Adivasis and ready to extend support to families of those not officially recognised in the Indravelli police firing of April 20, 1981. He said 13 Adivasi martyrs were officially recognised and that benefits including Indiramma houses, agricultural land and vehicles valued at ?10 lakh had been provided to recognised families.
He urged superintendent of police Akhil Mahajan to close belt shops in Indravelli and Utnoor mandals. Godam Nagesh said development works under NREGS would be taken up in Adivasi habitations and road connectivity improved.
Kova Laxmi said restrictions at the Indravelli martyrs memorial had been revoked and pledged to work for Adivasi development. Soyam Bapu Rao said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had begun paying tributes to the martyrs in 2021 and would visit Heerapur village in May. ITDA Project Officer Yuvaraj Marmar and others were present.
