Human Rights Panel Orders Probe Into MEO Pay Anomaly
The complainants pointed out that employees in similar roles across other government departments receive higher remuneration

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) has taken cognizance of a complaint filed by personnel working in Mandal Education Offices (MEO) across the state regarding long-standing salary grievances. The staff alleged that despite over two decades of service and the mandate of GO Ms No. 60 (June 11, 2021), which prescribes a monthly salary of ₹15,600, they are currently receiving only ₹11,050.
The complainants pointed out that employees in similar roles across other government departments receive higher remuneration. Expressing concern over the potential violation of the right to livelihood and dignity, TGHRC Chairperson Dr. Justice Shameem Akther has sought a detailed report from the Director of School Education and the State Project Director of Telangana Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (TSSA).
The Commission has ordered submission of the inquiry report by January 6, 2026. Additionally, the TGHRC has requested the specific Government Order (G.O.) under which the current lower remuneration is being justified.

Water Board Summer Action Plan
HYDERABAD: The HMWS&SB is set to implement detailed micro-level field plans to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply within the GHMC and ORR areas in the upcoming summer.
During a review meeting on Friday, board managing director Ashok Reddy and executive director Mayank Mittal instructed officials to monitor water allocations closely and prepare for tanker-based supply in high-demand zones. "Proposals for additional filling stations must be submitted immediately to meet summer requirements," Reddy said. He also directed the vigilance department to take strict action against the misuse of treated drinking water.
Regarding civic infrastructure, the MD clarified that within the next 100 days, rainwater harvesting pits would be mandatory for every house built on 200 square yards, and strictly enforced for plots above 300 square yards. Officials were also directed to prioritize complaints regarding contaminated water, sewage overflow, and missing manhole covers.
