Human Chain Protest Near KBR Park Against Tree Cutting

Speakers said any reduction in green cover could affect species dependent on the forest patch and warned that shrinking urban green spaces could aggravate heat conditions, air pollution and groundwater depletion.

Hyderabad: Environmental activists and residents on Thursday held a human chain protest near KBR National Park opposing tree cutting and any reduction in the eco-sensitive zone around the park. The protest in Jubilee Hills was organised by Parisar Samvad Telangana Chapter, which raised concerns over the impact on biodiversity and ecological balance.

Speakers said any reduction in green cover could affect species dependent on the forest patch and warned that shrinking urban green spaces could aggravate heat conditions, air pollution and groundwater depletion.

Participants, including residents, environmentalists and civil society members, called for protection of the park’s surroundings and urged authorities to review proposals that could affect its ecological integrity.

The organisation also appealed to citizens to support conservation of urban green spaces.
