Sudhakar was reportedly crossing the Warangal-Khammam highway to reach the 4th Battalion premises located beside the road when an unidentified vehicle hit him on Wednesday night.
WARANGAL: A 50-year-old Home Guard attached to the 4th Battalion, Gottikoppula Sudhakar, died while undergoing treatment on Thursday morning after sustaining severe injuries in a road accident while on duty near the AG-1 gate.
Sudhakar was reportedly crossing the Warangal-Khammam highway to reach the 4th Battalion premises located beside the road when an unidentified vehicle hit him on Wednesday night. Fellow personnel immediately shifted him to the HGM Hospital in Warangal, where doctors provided treatment. However, his condition deteriorated and he succumbed to his injuries.
Officials of the 4th Battalion said Sudhakar was known for his dedication to duty and disciplined approach to work. Officers and fellow personnel expressed grief over his death.
Battalion Police Officers’ Association president Somaiah said they would stand by the bereaved family and take steps to ensure that government benefits and compensation related to his service were provided at the earliest.
Sudhakar, a native of Chennaram village in Khila Warangal mandal, is survived by his wife and three daughters.
