Hyderabad: The HMDA issued notice to Saroornagar commercial complex allottees to vacate on Tuesday, February 11, because of the dilapidated condition of the building that posed a safety risk to occupants and the public.
The complex consisting of 32 shops and blocks was built by the erstwhile Hyderabad Urban Development Authority (Huda) in 1981. The shops were leased and agreement expired in 2008.
A report from the department of civil engineering, Osmania University, following a study, submitted a reporting that the concrete quality was very poor and stated that the building was beyond repair and restoration.
Officials had previously issued notices to shop occupants, but many challenged the decision in the High Court. Following court orders and the Public Premises Act (Eviction of Unauthorised occupants), 1971, the HMDA passed the eviction orders. Despite the multiple counselling sessions several occupants have not vacated the premises, the HMDA said.
