History-sheeters Join Traffic Management in Hyderabad

In Kushaiguda division alone, 20 history-sheeters supported the police in awareness and traffic regulation activities.

Hyderabad: Rachakonda police introduced a one-of-a-kind reform project in which history-sheeters are included in traffic management duties at key junctions across the Commissionerate. The programme encourages the reformed offenders to participate in community service and regain social acceptance.

History-sheeters who have shown consistent positive behaviour and willingness to accept the change and reform were identified and deployed at busy traffic points. They worked alongside volunteers and traffic personnel at major junctions, including Uppal, LB Nagar and ECIL, assisting in managing vehicular movement and guiding commuters.

Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu said that this programme aims to create a meaningful shift, transforming individuals once associated with crime into productive contributors to society. Many participants also expressed pride in being allowed to correct their past and serve the public.

“We remember our mistakes, but now we feel proud to help people,” said some of the reformed participants, adding that the experience has given them a sense of purpose and a new beginning.

In Kushaiguda division alone, 20 history-sheeters supported the police in awareness and traffic regulation activities. Similar participation was recorded at Uppal and LB Nagar, with 20 reformed offenders from each police station joining hands with the traffic wing.

Commissioner said that more such supervised reform programmes are being planned to integrate willing offenders into constructive roles. He emphasized that the objective is not just enforcement but steering society towards positive change.
